Unfinished: If you choose,
we can build your piece and leave the finishing up to
you. It is highly recommended that you finish the piece
with one of the protective finished described below.

Nitrocellulose Lacquer:
Lacquer is a great choice for your piece. It cures to
a very hard, glossy finish. It is sprayed on in several
coats, giving the wood a wet, glassy look.
Tung Oil: While not as glassy as lacquer, tung
oil provides a protective finish and gives the wood a deep, wet look. It is much easier to apply
than lacquer, as it can be wiped on with a soft cloth.
Polyurethane: Oil or water based, polyurethane
provides a finish as great as any other. Glossier than tung oil, but not as glassy as lacquer,
it is perhaps the most common finish used on wooden furniture. It is fairly easy to apply with
a paintbrush.
Colors: Tints and Stains,
while accenting the natural beauty of wood, are not
to be used as a protective finish. If a colored finish
is desired, the piece must be finished with lacquer or
polyurethane after the stain has set.
Paint: There are times
when paint can be used, but for the most part, the beauty
of the wood is only hidden if the piece is painted. Unless
the piece has been made of plywood, scraps, or otherwise
ugly wood, paint isn't recommended.
